Immediate Prayer Requests--Thursday Morning

Kim has asked me to get her [and OUR] two most urgent prayer requests out you praying people:

[1] FOR CALM: In the claustrophobic space of this octreotide scan at 11:00 today, that she could keep her calm, especially for the 6-8 minutes it is an inch or so in her face, and

[2] FOR COURAGE: For the visit with Dr. Yao at 2:30 today. He now has a lot more info than he did two days ago and we are both feeling more-than-a-little angst for what he now knows and what lies ahead for her [and us]. We want the courage to address whatever it is and the faith to believe that God's best is wrapped up in this.

Thanks for checking in. You don't need to blog back, but we do need the prayer.

I'll check in after both of these "events".

Dear Loves,
Don’t know what to say, but can’t not say anything…surprise! Never thought I’d be sending you a verse from Acts as encouragement… especially intimidating since Dicky is the “King of Acts”… glad I’m writing so you don’t misunderstand this yat to think you’re “King of the Ax”… I thought about y’all yesterday when I read Acts 9:31… you know the situation is pretty tough & their circumstances just seem to be getting worse… still the early church “experienced peace and thus was strengthened. Living in the fear of the Lord and in the encouragement of the Holy Spirit, it increased in numbers.” Hadn’t thought about the “encouragement of the Holy Spirit” and being strengthened by the peace of Christ…guess I usually think about it the other way around… anyway, I’m praying for peace, encouragement, and strength as you continue “living in the fear of the Lord.” May his Spirit equip, enable, and encourage you for this journey.

Wishing I could be there with you physically and with much love,

Rose

Dicky,

I read your prayer requests when I got to work and immediately started praying. ALL the Goodwin's are praying for Kim's healing, as well as a peace that "...transcends all understanding..." for you, Kim, and the girls.

We'll be praying especially hard today at 2:30.

Love,
Missy

19 I remember my affliction and my wandering,
the bitterness and the gall.
20 I well remember them,
and my soul is downcast within me.
21 Yet this I call to mind
and therefore I have hope:
22 Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
24 I say to myself, “The LORD is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him.”
25 The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him,
to the one who seeks him;
26 it is good to wait quietly
for the salvation of the LORD.
27 It is good for a man to bear the yoke
while he is young.
28 Let him sit alone in silence,
for the LORD has laid it on him.
29 Let him bury his face in the dust—
there may yet be hope.
30 Let him offer his cheek to one who would strike him,
and let him be filled with disgrace.
31 For men are not cast off
by the Lord forever.
32 Though he brings grief, he will show compassion,
so great is his unfailing love.
33 For he does not willingly bring affliction
or grief to the children of men.
